Pampanga – a place where I was born into this world, a place where I live and hopefully, a place where I will take my last breath. It’s just a simple serene town nestled by naïve, peace-loving and hospitable Capampangans whose hearts are open doors to everyone, a place I proudly call MY HOME!
My province can’t be denied small in size but rich in tourism and in historical places. Some of these are the famous 1. HILAGA (formerly Paskuhan village), which is Christmas all year round, 2. Bacolor, also the first seat of congress in the Philippines, 3. In Lubao, the St. Augustine Church which is the third oldest church in the country, 4. Also, the majestic Mt. Arayat with its almost perfect cone and Hot Springs.
If you want to unwind from work… then here’s the suitable places, less traffic, less pollution but certainly not left out by technology. With Clark Air-Base located in Angeles City and the two shopping mall in the City of San Fernando. Who’ll say this is just a third class province?
Did you know that the late President Diosdado Macapagal was a Capampangan? Just like his daughter whose our seated president today, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Jovito Salonga, Gil Puyat, Ricardo Puno Sr., rey Langit and Lito Lapid are also politicians from Pampanga. Jose Abad Santos, a great Filipino who chose to die rather than betray his own country, also is a Capampangan.
Capampangans are also into show business and they are just too many to mention ‘em all.
Pampangenos are also known for their colorful parols or Christmas Lanterns that are like flickering stars. They add Christmas spirit inside the home that is why Pampanga was once declared as the “Christmas capital of the Philippines”.
Turrones De Casoy, Tocino, Suman and atcahra are just some of the mouth-watering delicasies we Capampangans are proud of. And hey, did you know that we, Capampangans, are the Best in Philippine cuisine? Yeah, we have all the mouth-watering dishes you’ll simply enjoy and you’ll eat your heart out with our delicious exotic foods.
I will not deny that I have a dream to travel around the world. I will not deny, too, that I certainly will keep coming back to Pampanga, my blest dwelling place. MY HOME SWEET HOME!
